Yeah, she just uses the one name, and no, youre
probably not going to find Tig anywhere on her birth
certificate. What about it? Geez, why are you so worked up about
it? You wanna step outside, pal? She just goes by Tig. End of
story. Well, its actually not the end of the story.
Youre right, thats not much of a story at all, certainly
not one thats as likely to convey what an entertaining treat
itll be to see her at Cap City this week as a slightly more
fleshed out tale would. So, onward...Heck, just geographically,
Tig has covered some interesting ground, born in Jackson, Mississippi,
her family later relocated to Houston, she moved on her own to
Denver (where she started Tignations Promotions, an entertainment
firm that managed and promoted bands), then moved yet again to
Los Angeles. Although she was still steeped in the music biz,
this last move is where the comedy part of the saga starts to
kick in. Upon touching down in L.A., the world of comedy started
luring her like a beckoning finger. Perhaps the work and challenges
of her company had made her particularly organized and goal-oriented,
but whatever the reasons, she gave herself a two-week window to
hit a bunch of comedy shows and get steeped in the stand-up world--then
she had to get on stage herself. On Day 14, thats exactly
what happened, and she hasnt looked back, racking up such
credits as her own half-hour special on Comedy Central, a recurring
role on AMCs Movies At Our House, appearances
at a slew of key festivals (including The Chicago Comedy Festival,
The Kilkenny Comedy Festival, and The Toyota Comedy Festival in
New York two consecutive years), inclusion on Uproar Records
Pretty Funny Women CD. With this kind of back story
and these credits and accomplishments, you sure as hell dont
want to miss this Tig Gig, right? Indeed, you wanna step inside,
pal? With TBA
