KREMER

There are any number of ways you can measure just
how talented and funny ex-Austinite Howard Kremer is-and we'll get
to some other ways in a sec; keep your shirt on, will ya?-but perhaps
one of the most fun and convincing (precisely for its randomness)
is to just Google him, then arbitrarily read three or four of the
entries that come up: One might be a piece in TimeOut-a respected
New York-based weekly publication that covers arts and entertainment-noting
that Howard was one of the stand-out performers at the Just For
Laughs International Comedy Festival, one of the biggest comedy
events in the world, featuring hundreds of comedians; one might
be a discerning blog on a web site that tracks the best & most
inventive comics around-and singling out Kremer for a particular
new bit or performance; one might be focused on the acclaimed, first-rate
and hilarious work produced by his alter ego, rap artist Dragon
Boy Suede; one might address all the television pilots he and writing
partner Brad “Chip” Pope (another ex-Austinite) have
written and sold to HBO, NBC, ABC, FOX, Comedy Central and other
networks; and so on. There are lots more where these came from,
Googlebreath. And even if you didn't own a computer, or didn't feel
like firing up a search engine, there are (as promised in the opening
sentence, Buster) a number of other indications that Kremer is a
gifted dude, a real top-notch stand-up guy. Surely you remember
“Austin Stories,” the MTV series set right here in Austin
that starred Kremer (and Pope, among others), he's performed on
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” and Comedy Central shows, including
“Premium Blend” and “Comedy Central Presents.”
Given all this overwhelming evidence that Kremer's a highly accomplished
and funny man, we assume it goes without saying that you should
hightail it to Cap City this week.
