Even if you didn’t recognize Carlos Alazraqui
as Officer James Garcia from Comedy Central’s cop comedy “Reno
911,” you’d probably know him from his…voice.
Well, maybe not his voice, exactly, but one of his voices--one of
his many, many voices. Indeed, Carlos is an immensely experienced,
highly accomplished voice-over actor, primarily in the animation
world--like Rocko on “Rocko’s Modern Life,” Lube
and Winslow on “Cat/Dog,” Mr. Crocker on “Fairly
Odd Parents,” among others. Oh, and he was also the voice
of the Chihuahua on that Taco Bell commercial campaign--surely you
remember this little dog saying “Yo Quiero Taco Bell.”
But you aren’t really coming to Cap City because Carlos is
Officer Garcia, or because he was the voice of a famous Chihuahua.
You wanna know if he’s funny. He’s got you covered there,
and then some. He’s been doing stand-up for many, many years,
and has the credits to prove it--he’s got television credits
as a stand-up dating back to the mid-90s, if not before, and you
have to have reached a certain level of proficiency and experience
to be booked on a TV show. Credits of a newer vintage include “The
Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson” and his own half-hour
special, “Comedy Central Presents.” So no matter how
you slice it, an evening with Carlos Alazraqui is guaranteed to
be fun, funny and enormously entertaining--a truly special event.
