About the FPIA contest

This year is the largest contest ever with 127 contestants.  The contest will consist of nine preliminary rounds, three semi-final rounds and the
final night (the preliminary round spreadsheet is shown above). The semi-final rounds will be held on May 9th, 10th & 11th.  The final round will be held on Monday, May 17th.  This year the grand prize winner will receive $2500.00 plus a year membership to Lifetime Fitness.  In addition, each round we will be awarding $100.00 to the contestant who has the "joke of the night."  

Second place receives $1000.00 and third place gets $500.00.  As you can see, keeping your eye on the prize has big payoffs this year!  We will make further announcements as more prizes become available.  Stay tuned!

Please help us this year as we rally around two worthy organizations – Austin Children’s Shelter & Capital Area Food Bank.  Encourage your family and friends to come out and support comedy and these organizations. $1 of every ticket sold at the contest will go to Austin Children’s Shelter. Bring two cans of food for the food bank and your family and friends will get in free.  Lastly, $1 of designated drink sales will also benefit the Capital Area Food Bank.  So please tell your friends, family, co-workers, and everyone you know that the F.P.I.A. contest nights are great nights of fun and benefit our community.

Rooftop Comedy will again be recording F.P.I.A. sets nightly and posting them on www.rooftopcomedy.com.  We are so excited that our friends from Comedy Central will be joining us again for our semi-final nights.  We look forward to showcasing Austin's top comedians to industry professionals, talent bookers and managers from across the country.  We are positive this year's contest will be the best ever!

A few facts and friendly reminders:

• All shows will begin at 8:00 p.m.
• Preliminary round tickets are $6.00, Semi-Final rounds are $8.00, Final Night tickets are $12.00**
• Arrive by 7:30 p.m. and check in at the contest.
• Make sure you know when you are going up.
• Each contestant will receive one beer, wine or well beverage.
• Do not go over 7 minutes.
• All finalists will receive a DVD copy of their final set.
